East Rutherford, N.J. – The New York Football Giants defeated the New England Patriots last night at Metlife Stadium by a score of 6-3, finsishing the preseason with a record of 2-2. Last night’s game was mostly for the backup players as they fight for a spot on the Giants 53-man roster, the Giants will make their finals cuts on Friday.
The Giants could be concerned about last night since the New England Patriots rested their starters, while they played their first team. However, the Giants did rest several starters due to injuries.
Giants fans got to see Hakeem Nicks make his preseason debut, who has missed much of the preseason while spending time on the physically–unable-to-perform-list. Nicks broke the fifth metatarsal in his right foot during an OTA in May. The wide receiver caught one pass across the middle for six yards in limited game time.
The Giants talented defensive line looks like it has another option. Adewale Ojomo, the 6’4 270 lbs rookie defensive end out of The University of Miami (Fla), had the biggest play of the game. Ojomo had a strip sack off of New England quarterback Brian Hoyer late in the fourth quarter, which helped set up the game winning field goal.
The Giants will begin their title defense when they open the season next Wednesday night at home against the Dallas Cowboys.
