After making the trade for all-star guard Joe Johnson and the paramount signing of star point guard Deron Williams, the Brooklyn Nets have sought to improve their player roster even more through a series of important moves.
Here is a short list of the moves the Nets have made thus far this offseason:
Players Re-signed: G Deron Williams, F Gerald Wallace, F Brook Lopez, F Kris Humphries, G Keith Bogans
Acquired through Draft: G Tyshawn Taylor, F Tornike Shengelia, F Ilkan Karaman
Acquired through Free Agency: G/F Jerry Stackhouse, G C.J. Watson (waived by Chicago), F Mirza Teletovic
Acquired through Trade: G Joe Johnson (from Atlanta), F Reggie Evans (from Los Angeles Clippers)
Players Lost: G Deshawn Stevenson (to Atlanta), G Anthony Morrow (to Atlanta), G Jordan Williams (to Atlanta), C Joahn Petro (to Atlanta), G Jordan Farmar (to Atlanta), Gerald Green (to Indiana).
All-star center Dwight Howard is still a possible late addition to the team as well, but it would have to be after January 15 because forward Brook Lopez, an important cog in this trade deal, cannot be traded until after this date due to the new collective bargaining agreement rules. If he is still not traded, Howard could sign a deal with the team during the 2013 summer signing period.
The Nets will seem to have a brand new team for the upcoming 2012-2013 NBA season. Aside from four of the above players that were re-signed (Bogans was waived during the middle of the 2011-2012 season then signed this summer), the Nets will have to redevelop team chemistry all over again. Williams and Johnson, who are expected to be the team leaders, should make this process a lot easier.
