Are Mets Finally Ready to Say Bye-Bye to Bay?

Added by Eddie Utley on July 29, 2012.

Are Jason Bay's days in a Mets uniform finally numbered?

The time to dump Jason Bay was long, long ago. It is getting ridiculous that the outfielder is still a member of the New York Mets.

Mets manager, Terry Collins was interviewed by Joe and Evan on their WFAN radio show and actually compared Bay to David Wright. Collins actually said Wright was hurt last year but look at him now. Really? REALLY? How can you compare David Wright to Jason Bay? Bay has not done ANYTHING since he signed that contract. Not a damned thing.

Collins continues to say Bay was the right handed bat they’ve been waiting for. He continues to say he needs more at bats to be consistent. How many ways can you cover for Sandy Alderson not making a trade? How many ways can you cover for the Wilpons being broke and unable to spend money required to being in other players?

Recent call-up starting pitcher, Matt Harvey has half as many hits as Jason Bay since he came off the DL, and he only played in one game so far. Watching Bay is painful.

Now there are rumors that Bay’s time is limited, which it should be. Mike Baxter will be back soon and that should be the end of Bay. Bay was truly the elephant in the room. When Davis struggled, he didn’t go to the minors, but Duda struggled a little bit and he’s gone…the only reason was so that Bay could play. Hairston could have taken all those at bats. Valdespin too.
