Is Dillon Gee Done? Is It Matt Harvey Time?

Who should fill the rotation spot of Dillon Gee?

Dillon Gee now knows the problem he has been dealing with and it’s not good at all. Gee had an arterial clot, not a vein clot. So this is completely different from what Bobby Parnell had gone through.

The only recent pitcher data available who went through this is Jeremy Bonderman and once it happened to him, he was done. I believe Oil Can Boyd may have also had the issue but he has so many other issues.

Gee is going to have surgery and will be out at least 6-8 weeks before he can start throwing. There is no way that Miguel Batista can be put in the rotation for a long time. Even having Chris Young in the rotation that long is going to be painful. It looks like it might be Matt Harvey time. They wouldn’t bring him up for two starts if it was a vein issue but now that it’s arterial, Gee has a long time before he is going to be able to pitch again.

Or maybe Sandy Alderson will make a move. The Mets do need to do something to bolster this team and now that Gee is down, it becomes a necessity. Reminds me of 2006 when Sanchez went down though his issue was a cab driver and being out at 2AM.

Harvey, Harvey, start chanting. Whether he’s the answer or not remains to be seen but they can’t leave it to Batista. Harvey, Harvey.

Not to trivialize Gee’s injury, I hope he comes back, I hope he can continue his career but this team is in a delicate spot between try to win and just be another season of blaaaaaah.
