Running back, Jawan Jamison, was selected to the Preseason Second Team All-Big East by Athlon Magazine.
Athlon Magazine released it’s Preseason All-Big East team selections. The Rutgers Scarlet Knight’s football program has ten players in total on the three teams, including four on First-Team All-Big East.
Three of the four are on the defensive side of the ball. Scott Vallone, Khaseem Greene, and Logan Ryan were selected on the Big East First Team defense. Greene was Co-Defensive Player of the Year in the Big East last season. Ryan is expected to lead a very talented secondary for Rutgers this season while Vallone is the veteran stalwart along the defensive line.
The lone offensive player to be selected to the first team is sophomore offensive lineman Kaleb Johnson. Rutgers is expecting big things from Johnson this season as they attempt to solve the recent lackluster performances by the big men up front.
Running back Jawan Jamison and wide receiver Brandon Coleman were selected to the second-team offense while linebacker Steve Beauharnais and safety Duron Harmon appears on the second-team defense.
Jeremy Deering was selected as the second-team kick return specialist. Deering could see plenty of action this season as the Scarlet Knight’s kick returner as well as at wide receiver.
Rutgers has more players on the first and second team combined than any other team in the conference. With nine, Rutgers has one more than Connecticut and Louisville who both have eight. Connecticut leads with six players selected to the first team alone.
In all, South Florida leads with 14 players selected to all three teams. Rutgers has a total of 10.
Offensive line transfer R.J. Dill is listed on the third team offense.
