Mets Swept Away By Yankees in Weekend Series

Added by Eddie Utley on June 11, 2012.

Sloppy play by the Mets resulted in a sweept at the hands of the cross town rival New York Yankees.

While I was not expecting much from the Mets against the American League teams, a sweep from the Yankees wasn’t what I had in mind, either. One positive to take from the weekend was that the Mets were generally competitive.

With that said, they had chances to win, but the sloppy play and questionable moves continue. It was the same things we saw in the previous series against the Washington Nationals.

I assume the Mets were going based on Jason Bay’s old numbers against Yankees Sunday starter Andy Pettitte. However, Bay is done.  The Mets really need to stop trying to get anything out of him. Stop batting him second when that spot is needed for good hitters. And Andres Torres stopped hitting after his first game, don’t bat him leadoff. If you need offense, then use the guys who are hitting. Bay came up in a big spot and, of course, gave nothing.

Pinch hitting for Scott Hairston? The best pinch hitter on the team…why would you pinch hit for him?

Why is Jon Rauch not on the disabled list? Bone chips are not something you should pitch with. He should actually be getting surgery. Rauch is not so good that you need to keep him, but I guess Sandy (Alderson) needs his trade chip to perform. We all know that’s what he and Frank Francisco are here for.

Everytime I’m ready to believe in this team, they go and do something to make my head spin.

Sandy Alderson is making me want to rip my hair out. He said he would wait until after the all-star break to make a trade if the Mets are still in the playoff hunt. How about you make a trade to keep the Mets in it? Does he not see the division they’re in? Though, this month, they may play themselves right out of contention.
