The Upstate NY girls lacrosse just announced who will be on the roster at the seventh annual 2012 Under Armour Underclassmen Elite Stars Lacrosse Tournament. This is one of the most important regional annual tournaments because it sees competition from both girls and boys teams hailing from Baltimore, Long Island, New England, New Jersey, Upstate New York and a smattering of other East Coast cities.
The Elite Stars tournament will kick off June 29-July 1 with the Under Armour All-America Lacrosse weekend, which features 88 of the best underclass teams in the nation. These teams are divided into several 10-team pools. The winner of each pool then plays for the championship, which will be played at the Johnny Unitas Stadium at Towson University in Baltimore.
The Upstate NY girls roster contains 24 girls from the graduating class of 2013-2015, including standout locals like Burnt Hills sophomore attack Nicole Beardsley and Guilderland junior defender Jenna Walsh. They will be coached by Phil Luckette from Jamesville DeWitt High School. Athletes participating in the tournament will be provided with uniforms and jerseys, and will be put in an optimal position to play for the Under Armour All-America team once they are eligible seniors.
Being selected to play for this tournament is one of the highest honors in lacrosse. Many alumni consider it to be one of the defining points of their careers.
