LaShawn Merritt Being a Good Sport in Central Park

Added by Janet Thompson Hilliman on May 14, 2012.

Before heading off to London for the Olympics, LaShawn Merritt had some fun appearing on NOC'D Up.

Aside from being a serious competitor, LaShawn Merritt is also a good sport.  The two- time Gold Medal Olympian took time out of his busy schedule to “school” Mike Lockyer; the host of NOC’D UP in a series of races.

He is a maestro at what he does, that LaShawn is.  He came to work in Central Park in his collared shirt, ready to have some fun, but also to prove the point that he doesn’t lose.

Mike challenged LaShawn in sprints and, of course, he lost.  Then, maybe he figured if he tried him again in an egg race, LaShawn would have had no skills.  Yet again he lost, but Mike didn’t stop there.  He challenged him to a sack race.  Still not satisfied with his loss, Mike dared him to race a pedi-cab and couldn’t believe the result when the race was over. He was schooled by the Olympian for the last time.

If you are a winner, then you win at everything you do, even if it’s “field day” races.  LaShawn proved that.  Mike was also a good sport and wants a rematch after LaShawn returns from London.  As they say, “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” which makes LaShawn no dull boy here.  LaShawn is having fun as he gets ready for his next biggest feat on the world’s biggest stage this summer in the Olympic Games in London.
