Outlaws Look Strong in FHL Finals Game One

The New Jersey Outlaws won Game One of the FHL finals in convincing fashion. They won the game 7-2. The Danbury Whalers came out and played a very good first half of the first period. They had a 1-0 lead and were outshooting the Outlaws 10-1 at one point. The Outlaws came roaring back in the second half of the first period and never looked back. It was 3-1 Outlaws after one period and 6-1 after two periods.
The first goal of the game was scored by Matt Moffat at the 18:46 mark and assisted by Greg Holt. Matt Miller scored the first of his three goals at the 10:14 mark. Miller scored again at the 5:57 mark to make it a 2-1 game in favor of the Outlaws. The final goal of the third period came at the 5:29 mark which was just 28 seconds later from Brett Angel.
In the second period Brett Liscomb scored at the 15:34 mark. Kevin Cooper scored a short handed goal at the 12:32 mark of the second period. John Goffredo scored a goal at the 4:20 mark to make it a 6-1 game.
In the third period Miller scored at the 16:48 mark to make it a 7-1 game. Danbury made it a 7-2 game at the 15:08 mark on a goal from Joey Spagnoli.
Danbury outshot New Jersey 51-43. Danbury in the third period when the game was out of hand outshot New Jersey 22-7. Dan McWhinney got the win in goal and Peter Vetri took the loss. Spagnoli came on in the third period for Danbury. The best of five series is now 1-0 in favor of the Outlaws.
Game Two will be this afternoon at 4:35PM. The series will shift to Danbury for Game three which is on Friday night and then Game four if necessary on Saturday. If the series goes to Game five it will be next Sunday April 1st back at the Ice Vault in Wayne,NJ.
