Outlaws Get Bounce Back Win

Wayne, NJ – The New Jersey Outlaws bounced back from a loss Friday night in Cape Cod. They defeated the Akwesasne Warriors last night by the score of 6-2. The game was tight through the first period, the first period ended in a 1-1 tie. The Outlaws took control of the game in the second period. The Outlaws had a 4-2 lead after two periods. They finished off the game with two goals in the third and Akwesasne had none.
Dan McWhinney was the winning goalie. Adam Dekker who has been the top goalie for the Outlaws was called up to the Trenton Titans of the ECHL. The Outlaws had the advantage in shots 41-33. The Outlaws were 3-9 on the power play and the Warriors were 0-3.
In the first period Travis Kauffeldt got the scoring started with a goal from Lawne Snyder and Anthony Battaglia. The goal was scored at the 2:04 mark of the first period. The Warriors tied the game up at the 10:42 mark with a goal from Jean Rene Forget, who was assisted by Pierre Dagenais and Sylvain Deschatelets. In the second Kauffeldt scored from John Goffredo and Jeff Winchester at the 6:23 mark. The Outlaws took a 3-1 lead at the 8:59 mark of the second with a goal from Kevin Cooper on the power play. Battaglia and Winchester assisted. Jason Reese made it a 4-1 game at the 11:44 mark and was assisted by Luke Flicek. The Warriors cut the lead to two goals with a goal from Martin Beaulne. He was unassisted and it was a shorthanded goal. The goal was scored at the 16:36 mark of the second period.
In the third period Cooper scored from Reese and Brett Liscomb at the 6:20 mark. Liscomb finished off the scoring with a power play goal at the 18:51 mark of the period. The goal was assisted by Jim Jensen and Reese.
The game got a little rough. There were a couple of fights and a couple of roughing penalties. The game lasted two hours and 43 minutes and there were 894 fans in attendance. The three stars of the game were Reese as the third star, Kauffeldt as the second star and Cooper as the first star. They are all from the Outlaws. The Outlaws will take on the Cape Cod Bluefins tomorrow afternoon at the Ice Vault. The game will begin at 4:35PM. The Outlaws will play three more games after that and then begin the playoffs at home on March 9th
