Hey there Jets Fans -
Now that we have survived the dominance parade of that “other” New York football team, we can focus on the future progression of Gang Green.
Obviously changes are in the works. The coaching staff is being refreshed and the NFL Combine is among us. Aside from looking for fresh meat, the status of some current players must be attended to.
The first player that comes to everyone’s mind is Santonio Holmes. If you do not know already, the Jets franchise has decided to ring in the 2012/13 season with this future (should be) Hall of Famer. But will #10 change his “tone” with the rest of the team and, oh, I don’t know, #6 perhaps?? The Jets have a financial commitment to Holmes and he will be receiving another $7.5 million this year.
With that said, my question is the following: From a Jets fan’s point of view, which is more important to you – Keeping a player on the team for financial reasons or performance? Forget the fact that Holmes is a current factor. I am referring to any quality player that has proven his skill, yet has caused a problem or two. I’m sure the same situation occurs with other teams, however, the Jets problems have unfortunately been publicized more so than others.
For me, I say keep a player with a positive track record, as long as the problems can be solved. It seems like the obvious answer but easier said than done. Not every single co-worker gets along with their fellow co-workers in any work environment. According to an article I read the coaching staff has faith in and will work closely with Holmes.
Holmes and Sanchez are also suppose to meet to hash out their issues. 2012 will determine if everything has been taken care of, but in the mean time, more Jets changes are on the rise.
Go Jets.
