NJ Outlaws: Outlaws Win Physical Matchup with Warriors

The New Jersey Outlaws started a five game road swing tonight. They defeated the Akwesasne Warriors 9-6. New Jersey scored the first three goals of the game. They had a 5-1 lead and it appeared they were on their way to a blowout win but not so fast. The Warriors fought back making it 5-3 before the Outlaws extended the lead to 6-3. It was 8-4 and then 8-6 before the Outlaws scored the final goal.
 
Akwesasne outshot the Outlaws 37-33. New Jersey was 2-5 on the powerplay and Akwesasne was 1-4. The game was two hours and 27 minutes and there were 327 people in attendance. Brett Liscomb scored the first goal at the 3:23 mark of the first period, he was assisted by Battaglia and Zollars. Zollars scored at 6:32 of the first to make it 2-0 and he was assisted by Goffredo and Battaglia. Liscomb made it 3-0 at the 9:57 mark of the first and was assisted by Goffredo and Battaglia. Dagenais scored the first goal for Akwesasne and was assisted by Trevisani and Pelkey at the 11:02 mark of the first. Kevin Cooper scored at 13:17 with the assists coming from Kauffeldt and Mercer. Kauffeldt scored at 18:48 and was assisted by Reese and McWhinney.
 
Dagenais scored his second goal to open the scoring in the second period. Stacey and McCarthy assisted at the 3:15 mark of the second. Dagenais got the hat trick and made it a 5-3 game at the 5:59 mark of the second. The goal was assisted by Corbeil and Deschatelets. Goffredo made it a 6-3 game at the 9:39 mark and he was assisted by Puntureri and Martel. The Warriors made it a 6-4 game at the 18:34 mark of the second. The goal was scored by Beaulne and assisted by Simon and McCarthy. Cooper scored to open the scoring in the third period and make it a 7-4 game. He was assisted by Kauffeldt and Reese. Puntureri scored at the 8:33 mark and was assisted by Oke and Goffredo. Akwesasne scored at 9:40 and 13:32. The goals were scored by Trevisani and assisted by Beaulne, Dagenais, Delisle and Thompson. The Outlaws ended the scoring at the 16:22 mark on a goal by Angel, assisted by Liscomb and Battaglia.
 
The two teams will meet again tomorrow night in Akwesasne. Goffredo, Liscomb and Dagenais were the three stars. McWhinney was the winning goalie and Thompson the losing goalie. The Warriors used two goalies in the game. There were a couple of roughing and unsportsmanlike penalties, the game became a little rough. We will have to see if anything carries over into tomorrow nights game.
